DCspace Joins the Directory with Colocation Across Three Singapore Data Centres
DCspace, the trading name of Data Centre Space Pte Ltd, has been added to the Web Hosting Benchmark directory. It is a Singapore provider with a deliberately narrow offer: rack space in established local data centres, and dedicated servers for companies that would rather not own the hardware.
Here is what the listing covers, and what a buyer should look at before asking for a quote.
Three addresses, not one building
Most small colocation providers give you a single room and hope it suits you. DCspace works across three Singapore facilities, and the choice actually matters.
Racks Central at Tai Seng is a carrier neutral site in the older infrastructure corridor, which tends to be the pragmatic option on price. Techlink at Kaki Bukit runs to the TIA-942 data centre standard, so it is the one to ask about when a client or an auditor wants to see a recognised facility standard on paper. Equinix SG1 at Ayer Rajah sits inside Singapore's main interconnection hub, which is where you want to be if your latency or your cross connects depend on being close to a lot of other networks.
The right answer depends on who you need to sit near. That is worth saying out loud before you compare monthly figures, because a cheaper rack in the wrong building can cost more once you add transit and cross connects.
Footprints from one server upward
Colocation starts at a single server in shared cabinet space, which is the sensible size for an edge node, a backup target or a piece of kit that has to live in Singapore for compliance reasons. From there it moves to a quarter or half rack once you have enough equipment to consolidate, and then a full cabinet when you want your own power planning and the option to spread across sites.
Pricing is quoted per deployment rather than published. That is normal in colocation, where the bill depends on rack units, power draw and bandwidth rather than a plan name, but it does mean you cannot compare DCspace against a price list at a glance. Send the rack units, the expected power in kW and your bandwidth need, and the numbers become comparable.
The dedicated server on offer
For companies that do not want to buy hardware, DCspace lists one machine: an AMD EPYC 7742 with 512 GB of memory, 4 TB of NVMe storage and a bundled 1 Gbps port, at SGD 550 per month. Six units were listed as available at the time of writing, subject to confirmation.
That is a lot of memory for the money, and it points at the workloads it is meant for: virtualisation, databases, and businesses replacing ageing on premise hardware without moving to a public cloud bill.
How to read a new listing
DCspace has just been added, which means it carries no customer reviews and no community benchmark results yet. A listing on this site is a record of what a provider offers, not a recommendation, and it only starts carrying weight once real customers rate it and real benchmark runs land against it.
So treat this the way you would treat any new entry. Ask for the quote, ask which of the three sites they are proposing and why, and ask what the power allowance is before you sign. If you already run with them, a review on the listing is what turns this from a description into evidence.
